Genesis 24:52-27:46
Matthew 8:18-9:17
Psalms 10:1-18
Proverbs 3:7-10
I love days like today when I hear God speak to me...It is hard to explain how I hear him. It is not like he is an audible voice but more like a thought that runs through my mind over and over till I hear Him. (He is patient with me cause he knows I'm a little slow) I use to doubt if it was Him or just me wanting to think God was speaking to. Now I know...It is Him. He has wisdom beyond what my poor mind could ever imagine. I am so blessed that I all I have to do is ask Him to share with me and He does. Just like if Tyler or Logan were to ask me to share what I know with them. He wants to help me just like I have the desire to help my children.
Genesis 25:18
Poor Ishmael. He did not ask to be born the way he was but yet he must suffer the mistakes of his father. He lived such a hostile life and it continues through his blood line.
Genesis 26:7
See a common theme here? His father, Abraham, said the same thing of his wife Sarah.
I thought I have had during reading today is "like father like son".
Matthew 8:22
When I first read this it bothered me. It seemed like Jesus was being a bit heartless about this man who had just lost his father. The disciple ask could he bury his father and Jesus said "Follow Me, and allow the dead to bury their own dead" In the Jewish faith burying your father was very important...But Jesus denied him this comfort...I read it several times with the same result...I was upset with Jesus. I KNOW!! PLEASE BEAR WITH ME....I had to stop and really pray about this. I'm sure the Bible shouldn't evoke feelings of anger towards the only Man who has walked sinless on this earth and gave HIS life for ME. (THIS IS WHERE HE SPOKE TO ME)
You must pick, NOW... do what is the "norm" and makes you feel good or to follow ME and know it is not the path of ease.
He demands so much from me and demands it NOW. Not after I do what the world says brings comfort, but NOW! When I feel like I should be turning somewhere else, NOW, TURN and follow Him. He just keeps saying NOW to me. " I know it is hard, I know it is not what all your friends are doing, I know it will bring you pain but NOW is the time!"
He needs me to follow Him now, just like he needed that disciple right that SECOND to follow Him. What is being lost because I wait? Is my place being filled by someone else who doesn't hesitate? I understand now...He is not heartless but doesn't want me to wait ONE MORE SECOND!!
Matthew 8:29
Demons KNOW the Son of God and of his powers!!! I LOVE THIS!!!
Matthew 9:2
Take heart son, your sins are forgiven
He said this first instead of Get up and walk so people would question his authority to forgive sins like the Father. He was showing that He is His Father and His Father is Him.
I don't want anyone to read what I write and be offended. I would never want that...when I write I don't stop until the words stop. Here is where I sort it out...The love I have for my Father is amazing and unfaltering BUT he is different with me than he is with you. What I mean by that is he will make me feel anger, where he might make you cry. He knows me well enough to know if he makes me mad during reading His Word, than he has hit a nerve and I am open to hear what He needs for me to know. If I have offended you please accept my apologies from here on out.
LOVE YOU ALL!!!

Well I am finally back amongst the living and caught up on my reading. I feel a lot better and am thankful for it. I did have a lot of thoughts today and wrote a few things down but I am not going to go in to detail. I will pick up tomorrow with my normal writing but I wanted to let you know and keep myself accountable on my reading.

SINCE I'M UP...
Well...I've taken so many cold medications at this point...I CAN'T SLEEP!! I know most of yall are saying "How is that possible?" but I promise for me it is! This coming from the woman who took a "little" too much benadryl the other day for a pet dander allergy and starting hallucinating like I was on a bad acid trip from the 70's...wait...never mind!
While on facebook earlier, I saw a friend of mine had posted this link to a blog and since I am an official blogger now, I knew I had to check it out and measure her (me) up...I fell deeply in love with her writing at the point where she said "...several years I saw a story on a TV show about how the latest trend was for parents to give their daughters boob jobs for high school graduation (I don't know what they gave their sons.) When interviewing one of the moms, she said, "I just want my daughter to be happy." And as I tossed a throw pillow at the television, this really huge thought occurred to me: I don't want my children to be happy!!!

Here is the link so you can finish reading her post...She is a Christian woman with a great sense of humor!!
Hope you enjoy!

Day 5 Jan 5, Day 6 Jan 6
So today's blog isn't going to be the most in depth think you have ever read...I am in a fog of NyQuil and musinex. I might be sleeping as I type this. I've read most of these passages twice and have came to the conclusion, God would talk to me if I wasn't high on drugs. SO, to keep to my word I have been reading but I am going to go back over these lessons sometime in the future to see what I missed...
Genesis 11:1-15:21
Matthew 5:1-48
Psalm 5:1-6:10
Proverbs 1:24-33
Geniuses 12:2
Did anyone else notice there are 7 promises mad to Abram?
Genesis 13:7
A quarrelling arose...
And it begins...People can fight over anything, it is just our nature...our flesh nature. Literally, as I sit here on the couch, I would like to throw my pen at Kevin for having the TV turned up to a level that seems to make it easy for our neighbors to listen to "UFO'S, ARE THEY REAL??" It is just the way we are, not that it is an excuse. I'm positive God doesn't want me to throw pens at poor Kevin...
It is why I should get into the Word daily and look to God for our direction the way Abram did and not be like Lot who looked around with his eyes to see what would be best for LOT not for everyone else.
(On a side note...Ben you may be right...I think this fever is making me cranky!!)
Matthew
As I've read Matthew the last two day I realized I haven't had a lot to say...then I noticed everything I've been reading is in red. Jesus has bee doing the talking and I've been listening.
This is it for today...
LOVE YOU ALL!

Day 4, Jan 4
Genisis 8:1-10:32
Matthew 4:12-25
Psalms 4:1-8
Proverbs 1:20-23
As I read through the passages everyday I notice things that stick out to me but I'm not sure how to write about them or even put them into a whole thought...I'm going to just write them down anyway and maybe there will become a theme OR maybe it is just my silly little mind thinking there is a "clue" there I should be paying attention to. Either way I just wanted to explain it to you...
Gen 8
There are 7's EVERYWHERE!! I even noticed earlier when they were giving the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew 1:17..it is written 14 generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ...14 being 7 double...Now I feel like Nichols Cage in National Treasure but there is such a theme there...I could go on but you get the point.
Gen 8: 12-15
I like that I can still see this rainbow and be reminded of God's covenant to us all...Like getting to see a little miracle every time it rains.
Gen 8: 21
Ham had to make sure his brother knew of his fathers transgression. Instead of covering up his shame he had to broadcast it...
I am very guilty of this..I have a family member that has a drug problem but do I walk in backwards and cover him?? NO, I pass judgement and whisper to others how bad off he is. Then I justify my actions by pointing out more examples of his wrong doings...Shame on me. I am reminded of Matthew 7:3 why do you look at the speck of saw dust in your brothers eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
This is the second time in 2 weeks that God has layed this on my heart...I hear You.
Matthew 4:12
Come follow me...
And that's all it took?? I couldn't imagine a man walking by my house and saying to Logan "Come follow me" and Logan saying "SURE, I've never seen you before but you look like a good enough guy to follow" WHAT?? Not only would I think the man was crazy but Logan as well...I would like to think I would have all this Divine wisdom to know the Son of God walking down the road but truth is I'm not sure...
1 of 2 things...
1. That Jesus possessed such a profound spirit that if you saw Him in person you KNEW of His calling. You would KNOW, "This is the ONE and nothing like any preacher we have ever seen!" and couldn't help but follow Him.
2. It was a different time when peoples faith was an every day decision maker and they didn't question things like we do today. They depended on their faith for fishing, crops, rain, children...EVERYTHING.
Proverbs 1: 20-21
I had to go back and read this several times before I got it...All of these places wisdom call aloud from are very noisy, busy, bustling places... I had to really think about what this is saying....
It would be like if I were to be downtown Nashville on the corner of Broadway and 5th calling out words of wisdom....How many people would hear me? ONLY the ones seeking it. The others would be trying to get to the restaurant or bar to hear their favorite band, so they could delight in the simple things of this world. Wisdom is something you must seek! It will not always be the easiest to see, but look around and you will find it everywhere.
I love how the Living Word is able to speak to me in 2011 just like it did 500 years ago to that generation of people.
Love you all!!

Day 2 and 3, Jan 2 and 3
Well it is day three in to this 365 day journey and I have already missed a day. What is wrong with me??? I missed reading my Bible yesterday....I did make up for it today and caught up but if I would just do a little a day it would not pile up to the point that I don't know where to begin...I REALLY do this with everything in my life from cleaning house to waiting till the very last minute to start getting ready to go somewhere. KNOWING if I would do it when I needed to I wouldn't end up stressed and mad at myself. I want this to be fixed in my being...Heavenly Father, I know you see my weaknesses and faults...please help me to put this procrastinating spirit behind me so that I can be a more productive person to better serve you and others...in Jesus name I pray, AMEN.
I am going to group day 2 and 3 together with my thoughts...I didn't have as many "ahh ha" moments today and I am sure it has everything to do with the fact I put off reading till today and I feel guilty for it...A PERFECT example of how something that is so small can put a wedge in my closeness to God...
Genesis 3:1-7:24
Matthew 2:13-4:11
Psalm 2:1-3-8
Proverbs 1:7-19
Genesis 3:1
Why in some places like Gen 3:1 is it stated, Lord God, but in other places Gen 1:31 it says simply God? I will find this answer out and get back...I wonder if it has something to do with the 3 head as compared to just One...maybe not but I have found that everything in the Bible is intentional, so it is not like they just forgot to put Lord in some places.
Genesis 3:16
And he shall rule over you
I know what I am about to say is not a popular belief in today's society but I feel from the bottom of my heart this is another direct commandment from God that is ignored. We as a society have gotten so wrapped up in having power and control that no one is taking care of what we need to anymore...myself included. Mothers were made to raise children and be nurtures and men to be providers. We all have lost our roles but so many of us had to put on hats that were not ours because someone else dropped the ball. I am not sure how to fix this...we are raising generations of girls that feel like they have to be superior to men and generations of boys that have grown up without fathers. I know I am not talking about EVERYONE but of my circle of girlfriends I can say that 80% of them parent alone for the most part and don't have a "MAN" in their life.
Matthew 2:13-4:11
Our flesh desires bread to live but our spirit desire and lives on the word. Without the Word our spirit will starve and not exist, having us to make judgment only by what is living and we are feeding ...THE FLESH. WE MUST feed our spirit daily with the Word just as we feed our flesh with bread.
Matt 4:6
An example of the devil knowing the Bible...We should be careful of those claiming to be righteous...Many of them know the word, just like the devil, but do not have God in their heart.
Proverb 1:7
but fools despise wisdom and discipline
I struggle with having discipline in my life.....at this point I AM the Bibles definition of a fool.
Like I have stated before "I AM AN EVERYDAY WORK IN PROGRESS" I make mistakes and I am OK with that. I learn more daily who I am in Christ and how He doesn't take His love away from me just because I make mistakes. I really have an awesome Father!!
LOVE YOU GUYS!!

Day 1, Jan 1
Today's reading is:
Genesis 1:1-2:25
Matthew 1:1-2:12
Psalms 1:1-6
Proverbs 1:1-6
These are just my random thoughts I wrote down while I was reading....
Gen 1:1
God created the heavens and the earth...That really made me think...Even God had to start somewhere and when I feel overwhelmed I should remember that the beginning is where I should start and do things ONE day at a time. I have read this passage many times in my life and saw it simply as a timeline for how God created everything but he is showing us that even He, who could have commanded it all to be done in a instant, took His time and it was GOOD. I too, should take my time and not rush things and it will be GOOD.
Not sure why but the word GOOD really stuck out to me in Genesis...maybe because it has been used 10 times already but it makes me curious about what God would consider GOOD...I am going to look it up and read other places in the Bible that use the word GOOD. I believe the Word is telling me something I should further investigate.
Gen 1:14-17
He knew man (US) would want to keep time and dates, so he created ways to distinguish day from night and season to season...though we weren't made yet...More proof that he really does know each and every one of us and our needs before we speak them. He knew me before I was in my Mothers womb...He knows ALL of us...from the first, Adam, to the child that entered the world this very second.
Gen 2:2
...he rested...
Wonder what God does to rest? Seriously...What would that consist of? Think he watches a game of football with the angels? MAYBE hooks up with Jesus and has lunch to talk about how things are going...I don't mean this to be funny exactly but what would you think God does on his day of rest? I just don't know...
Gen 2:24
Therefore a man should leave his mother and father and be joined with his wife and become one flesh
Reading this makes me more convinced that we as people of God are confused about our roles given to us from the beginning.
I read Matthew twice and some things stuck out to me but it was history questions not so much "how does this apply to my life" questions. I found it interesting that they quoted the Old Testament. I like when the Bible reconfirms for me that the WHOLE Bible is connected and not just a bunch of random stories. What was told to be true of the future in the OT is confirmed it the NT.
Psalms 1:1-6
Summarizing...It is clear you have two options
1. The way of the righteous
2. The way of a sinner
Righteous GOOD, sinner not!
Proverbs
Just a good start and explanation to what Proverbs will be...That's the way I see it.
I realized something when I was going back in forth in the Bible. Though it is all one piece of the Word, it is not in order per say...not like a regular book I read from cover to cover and it all flows...the Bible is a manual of sorts...Each book containing different lessons and ways of teaching...some books are history, some are for teaching lessons with analogies, some are very specific in what is expected of us, some just to praise God...I think God did this because he knows that we all learn differently and understand things that relate to us.
I am sure this is not the most interesting blog in the world...I'm not doing it to be entertaining but to keep me accountable in my studies.
Love you all!
